Multi-factor authentication (MFA)

At NOVI we use multi-factor authentication to log in, also known as multi-factor authentication.

Setting up MFA adds an extra layer of security to your Microsoft 365 account sign-in. For example, you first enter your password and, when prompted, also type in a dynamically generated verification code provided by an authenticator app or sent to your phone.

  1. Sign in to Microsoft 365 with your work or school account and password, as you normally would. After choosing Sign In, you'll be prompted for more information. A dialog box indicating that more information is required to complete your registration

  2. Choose Next.
  3. The default authentication method is the free Microsoft Authenticator app. If you have it installed on your mobile device, choose Next and follow the prompts to add this account. If you don't have the app installed, there is a link to download it.

If you prefer to use text messages sent to your phone instead, choose I want to set up another method. Microsoft 365 asks for your mobile phone number and then sends you a text message with a six-digit code to verify your device.

Tip: For a faster and more secure experience, it is recommended that you use an authentication app instead of SMS verification.
  4. When you complete the instructions for entering your additional verification method, you will be prompted to provide the additional verification information or action when you next sign in to Microsoft 365, such as typing the verification code you received through your authentication app or that you received by text message.
